![]() ![]() About Us
![]() The L.H.V.F.D. officially started providing dive rescue and recovery operations to the people of Belpre Township in 1997. Since that time with the cooperation and support of the Washington County Sheriff's Department we have transformed into the county wide dive team. Our team consists of divers from the fire department and the sheriff's department. Our personnel come from a varied line of occupations and dive experience. All divers are certified through recognized organizations and with continued certification in rescue & recovery specialist and some divers are certified Emergency Medical Technicians. Our support personnel are from the fire department and vary in training, with some holding rescue & recovery shore support certificates along with line tenders, boat handlers, and underwater communications specialists.
Our primary response consists of a diver with a ready to go safety diver at the waters edge. We use O.T.S. hard wired communications thus giving us teatherline and communications in one. Our shore support personal usually consists of a communications specialist, 2 EMTs & squad, and 2 or 3 fire department personal to assist with equipment set-up, logistics, and scene safety. Scene security is provided by the Washington County Sheriffs Department.
Our team has made dives for evidence recovery ranging from guns to automobiles and body recoveries from singular drowning to multiple drowning victims due to boat accidents.
